2009 is shaping up to be the year America put the blinders on
So far, 2009 has proven to be the year America put the blinders on.
Before I get too far into my point, let me make something clear. When I say America, I mean Barack Obama, the Democrats and all the people who voted them into office. These people may not represent all of America (they don’t represent me), but they do represent the majority. They are the ones in the drivers seat.
Now, on to my point. Since the start of 2009, we have seen a radical change in the philosophy of what is considered acceptable. Let’s look at what has changed since the left gained control.
-The left complained about how Bush ran a deficit around $300 to $400 billion, saying it was way too much. Now that Obama and the left are in charge, the government will run a deficit between $500 to $700 billion.
-The national debt hit $11 trillion under Bush, and that was bad. Obama is on track to double it and America is okay with this.
-Obama said he would stop the runaway earmark process to make sure our money is being spent wisely, something the previous administration didn’t do. Soon after saying this, he approved over 9,000 earmarks in one bill.
-Obama promised more transparency within government, saying Bush was anything but open with the American people. In reality, government is doing everything it can to be less transparent, starting with slamming the stimulus bill through before the citizens of America could find out what it was really all about.
-Remember no tax increase on the middle class? The cap and trade bill going through Congress is the largest tax increase in America’s history. Energy costs are going to skyrocket for everyone and will impact the lower and middle class the most.
-Obama’s stimulus package was supposed to stop unemployment and create jobs. Since the bill has been passed, America lost 1.6 million jobs while an estimated 150,000 jobs have been created. Oh yeah, unemployment is still on the rise.
I could go on, but my point has been made. Obama and the Democrats have proven to be nothing but a bunch of hypocrites with an agenda. What they have done so far in 2009 is appaling, but they have been able to get away with it (and will continue to) because of one reason: America has put the blinders on. Until these blinders are taken off, America will not see this administration for what it really is.
