Comedy and Tragedy

It’s rather tragic when comedians are more accurate in telling it like it is than a lot of the news outlets.

Message from Lenny for all to hear

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

A friend of my wife, Lenny, posted this on her facebook page.  She said 99% of people wouldn’t have the guts to repost it.  I say let’s spread her words for all to hear!!

Shame on you America: the only country where we have homeless without shelter, children going to bed without eating, elderly going without needed meds, and mentally ill without treatment – yet we have a benefit for the people of Haiti on 12 TV stations. 99% of people won’t have the guts to copy and repost this. Typical

Obama scores high marks with investors, but only overseas

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

Here is something that shouldn’t come as a surprise.  77% of American investors feel Obama is anti-business.  And as an added bonus, there is little confidence in Obama to manage a financial crisis.

But the feelings from over the pond are quite different (from Bloomberg):

Europe, Asia

Outside the U.S., Obama continues to get high marks with three-quarters or more of investors in Europe and Asia viewing him favorably. These rankings bring his global favorability rating to 60 percent among all poll respondents.

When it comes to his ability to manage a financial crisis, 55 percent of Europeans say they are either mostly or very confident; Among Asian respondents, 59 percent say they are somewhat confident or not confident; 38 percent expressed confidence.

Wanna know something kinda funny (and not “ha ha” funny)?  As Obama’s approval ratings plummet here, they remain high in other countries.  It’s almost like some of these other countries are happy about the financial mess we are in and want Obama to continue on his path of driving America right into the ground.

Glover, please call your buddy Chavez

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

Apparently Danny Glover hasn’t talked to Hugo Chavez since the earthquake in Haiti.

Boy, won’t Hugo be embarrassed when he finds out it wasn’t the U.S. Navy that caused the earthquake after all.

Mark Steyn:  But We’re Still Gonna Kill You

Not long after the Ayatollah Khomeini announced his fatwa against Salman Rushdie, the British novelist suddenly turned up on a Muslim radio station in West London late one night and told his interviewer hed converted to Islam. Marvelous religion, couldnt be happier, Allahu Akbar and all that.

And the Ayatollah said hey, that’s terrific news, glad to hear it. But were still gonna kill you.

Read the rest, and pass it on to anyone you know that thought Obama could somehow get others, especially our enemies, to like us.

Playing Politics with our Security

Monday, January 4th, 2010

One of the great travesties in our political system is when politics are taken more seriously than what is best for our country.  What is even worse is the fact politicians think the American public is too stupid to recognize this.

Today’s example of this type of total disregard for America is Missouri’s Senator Claire McCaskill.

From the Washington Examiner:

McCaskill argued throughout her campaign that Bush had made the nation more vulnerable to terrorism by invading Iraq, and she harped on the devastation of Hurricane Katrina as proof that Bush had left the nation susceptible to attack.

McCaskill, who used a wounded Iraq veteran and a woman with Parkinson’s disease in her ads attacking Talent for budget votes and stem cell policy, also attacked Bush for domestic wiretapping.

And she favored withdrawing all troops from Iraq by 2008 because the Bush troop surge was “a wild failure” that had bred a “culture of dependency” in Iraq. “We are not breeding a democracy,” she warned.

But that was a long time ago, politically speaking — before McCaskill became one of the first senators to endorse Barack Obama, before she voted to extend the same domestic wiretapping she once deplored, before she joined her fellow Democrats in congratulating the Iraqis on their new framework for national elections, before Obama committed 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan and before he became responsible for keeping Americans safe from terrorism.

Now Obama is under attack for the way his administration handled the attempted bombing of a Detroit-bound jetliner, and McCaskill and other Democrats are crying foul.

It’s no secret the Obama administration is using the Bush playbook when it comes to the wars.  And it is known, though not as well known, that security measures such as wiretapping are utilized in the same fashion under the Obama administration as they were under the Bush administration.  But according to McCaskill, these policies were a failure under Bush and are successful under Obama.

So, how does this make America less safe?  Simple.  If McCaskill had her way, we would have conceded Iraq, leaving the country open to whichever anti-American group could muster up enough power to overtake the country, giving them not only a country but tremendous wealth to boot.  And we would have ended the wiretapping program that has stopped countless plans to attack America before the plan could be put into place.

But this was only while Bush was in office.  Now that Obama is in, McCaskill no longer feels it necessary to end these programs.

Do we see the problem here?  If you look at the positions McCaskill has taken since being elected in 2006, she has been basing her vote on what she says  is best for America solely on who is the president.  She tried to throw out ideas Bush had because he was in office, only to support the exact same ideas now that Obama is in office.

Bush President, ideas bad.  Obama President, same ideas good.

Notice how there was no mention of national security in the above sentences?

There are no two ways about it.  McCaskill will put politics ahead of national security.  And it’s obvious she thinks the American people are too stupid to see this.
